CuongDNguyen: You hit the nail on the head. The problem is a single source. Islam/Sharia is the unwaivering basis of their culture, and they have no oil as a source of income. These are the key elements to the disaster and danger of Afghanistan and their bretheren in Pakistan.

It's really a matter of what will happen in the aftermath. There are very large overtones of a "brotherhood" emergence in the Syrian uprising. I am certain that sectarianism will lead to more strife if there were an elected govenrment in Syria. Egypt is now charging down the path of Islamicization.

Why the hell did Jimmy Carter oppose the USSR invasion of Afghanistan. The Russians knew these arseholes better than anyone at the time. I hope it will be China next becauce I really wouldn't mind seeing the Han people completely replace the Pushtans and the rest of these snakes.
